Guus Hiddink, who coached the Korean soccer team for the 2002 World Cup, visited Korea again on July 4. He was named an Honorary Ambassador for the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games. Two Kids Reporters, Kim Jun-hee and Park Jun-hyung, had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet the legendary coach at Hyatt Hotel in Seoul.

Guus Hiddink will support the 2013 Special Olympics as an envoy for the international sports festival for the people with intellectual disabilities. PyeongChang will host the Special Olympics from January 26 to February 6, 2013. Over 3,300 athletes from 127 countries will participate in the 2013 Special Olympics. The Special Olympics is held every two years.

Here¡¯s what our Kids Reporters have to say after meeting Guus Hiddink.

In 2013, the Special Olympics will be held in PyeongChang. On July 4, I had a chance to meet Guus Hiddink at a press conference. He said many things about the meaning of Special Olympics. But the most memorable sentence I remember is this: ¡°Please give your generous supports for the Special Olympics athletes participating in the 2013 Games just like you did during the 2002 World Cup.¡± I was very impressed by this sentence. In the 2002 Korean/Japanese World Cup, Korea went all the way to the semi-finals thanks to Hiddink. We still remember those moments. Now, he will help us host the Special Olympics successfully. Thank you for supporting us, Mr. Hiddink!

Park Jun-hyung
(Namsa Elementary School)

I couldn¡¯t believe that it was possible for me to meet such a popular soccer coach. PyeongChang Special Olympics is a sports festival for people with intellectual disabilities. I hope that they will play hard and get good grades. Hiddink became an honorary ambassador for the sports event. He said he is interested in helping disabled people. In fact, he already made his social welfare foundation in Amsterdam. I think he is a perfect person to let people know PyeongChang Special Olympics. I could learn more about the Special Olympics through him. It was such a special day for me!
