It
seems like everyone has a smartphone these days. Smartphones are
convenient and easy to use.
They also have multiple functions. In addition to
calling and text messaging, people can
take pictures, surf the web, play games,
watch television, and listen to music. Then, how do people use their
smartphones?
A smartphone is a high-end mobile phone built on a mobile computing platform. It has more advanced computing abilities
and connectivity than an ordinary mobile phone. The
most common mobile operating systems (OS) used
by modern smartphones include Google¡¯s Android,
Apple¡¯s iOS, Microsoft¡¯s Windows Phone, and Nokia¡¯s Symbian.
You can do pretty much everything with your smartphone. Smartphones
are often used as portable media players, digital
cameras, pocket video cameras, and GPS navigation.

People also send emails and communicate with others on
social networking websites through their smartphones.
According to a report by the Korea Communications
Commission (KCC)¹æ¼ÛÅë½ÅÀ§¿øȸ and Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA)Çѱ¹ÀÎÅͳÝÁøÈï¿ø,
different generations use smartphones
in different ways.
Korean teenagers aged between 12 and 18, use smartphones to mainly listen to music and
play games. About 90 percent of people aged 19 and older said they
mostly use their smartphones
as an alarm and clock.
Eight out of 10 people in that same age group also used their device as a calendar or as a means to manage their schedules.
While smartphones are convenient,
many people worry that Korea is becoming a smartphone-addicted country. In fact, the report showed
that 67.4 percent said they check their phones for no
reason.
A separate survey done by CNN found
that one in five people have a tough time living without
their smartphones. |
