On
February 20, the International Seoul Youth Hostel was filled with
excitement as Kids Reporters and their parents filled in the auditorium.
The Kids Times welcomed a total of 39 new kids reporters
at the welcoming ceremony.
Each student received a letter of appointment and
reporter¡¯s ID card. Then, they participated
in the three-day Kids Reporters¡¯ English Camp. Let¡¯s take a peep into their special
days at the camp.
After
beating hundreds of other
applicants from across the
nation in the fierce and competitive application process, the 39 children
were newly appointed as Kids Reporters. All looked very proud and confident. Some came all
the way to Seoul from faraway places such as Busan,
Daegu, and Gimhae by KTX. Although it was a long trip, they didn¡¯t mind coming at all.
Our new Kids Reporters will actively participate in creating the
contents of The Kids Times.
They will write articles, interview people,
and take pictures for the newspaper. Before starting to work as newly
appointed reporters, they learned how to write articles in English
at the three-day English camp held at the Seoul Youth Hostel in Namsan.
During the camp, our Kids Reporters were divided into seven groups.
Each group was made up of four to five students. They worked as a
team to make their own English newspapers.
Editor-in-chief Julia Baik
gave a lecture on English writing. According to her, English
writing skills are essential to be global leaders in the global village of the 21st
century. After making their own English newspapers, they also had
a chance to make a group presentation. It was a great
way to practice English speaking
and listening skills.
The camp ended on February 22, the Kids Reporters promised each other to meet
again very soon. Although they spent only three days together, they
already became good friends! We are very proud of you all! Way to
go, Kids Reporters! |
