is an amazing country. It is home to the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. It is
also home to the world’s shortest man! Recently, Guinness World Records declared a 72-year-old man
named Chandra Bahadur Dangi as the new world’s shortest man.
Previously, the world record
holder was Junrey Balawing
from the Philippines. He was 18
years old when he became the shortest man in the world last year.
He is 59.93 centimeters tall.
However, Mr. Dangi is even shorter than Junrey. Then, how short is
he? Very! He is only 54.60 centimeters tall! Since Mr. Dangi is from
a poor family in a remote part of Nepal, he
doesn’t know much about the world. And he has never seen a doctor
in his life. He had never heard of Mount Everest and the Guinness
World Records, either.
Last month, a timber merchant visited his
village to find some logs. When he saw the short
grandpa, he decided to measure him. That’s how he
became the world record holder! “I feel happy to break the world record,”
