Sniff, sniff¡¦what is this
foul smell? It may be from
your feet! If you don¡¯t wash your feet when you get home, they smell bad. But why do they
smell?
Let¡¯s learn some facts about your feet so we can keep them clean and
fresh.
Your feet are usually in your shoes for
a long time. Then, at the end of the day when you take off your shoes, they
smell bad. This is because of the bacteria on your feet. They
live in dark, damp places such as the insides of sweaty shoes. If you don¡¯t
wear socks, more bacteria can grow. This is because they multiply in sweat.
These bacteria on your feet eat dead skin cells and oils from
your skin and their colonies will grow. Then, they start getting rid
of waste in the form of organic acids. Those acids
make your feet smell bad. The more you sweat, the smellier your feet
will be. These bacteria also produce volatile sulfur compounds. They have
a strong smell like rotten eggs.
So, what
can you do to keep your feet clean and fresh? There are a few simple tips you can follow for your feet. First,
wear the right socks. Choose cotton socks because they
absorb sweat well and allow your feet to breathe. If your socks are
wet, wear new ones.
Wearing too tight shoes is bad for your
feet. It will make your feet sweat more and stink more. Do not wear shoes
made of plastic. Plastic doesn¡¯t let your feet breathe. Also, do not
wear the same shoes every day. It can make your shoes smellier. Once
you wear a pair of shoes, let them dry out for a few days before wearing
them again. Setting shoes out in the sun may help, too. It is also
important to wash your sneakers and insoles. Before wearing them,
dry them completely.

Wearing socks and shoes all day long can be bad for your feet. Take
off your shoes from time to time and let
your feet spend some time in the open
air. Also, wash your feet every day when you get home. After washing
them, dry your feet with a clean towel.
When you are home, go barefoot so your feet get
some air. If your feet are clean and dry, your feet will smell good!
Your feet are important. They help you walk around, stand up, or
run. So be nice to your hard-working feet! |
