 Today,
there are many different kinds of robots. They make our lives more
convenient. From cleaning
the house to cooking, they can do many things for us. Some robots
are also used to do some dangerous work. Scientists all over the world
are busy inventing new robots even
at this very moment.
Recently, American scientists developed a four legged robot named “Cheetah.”
It was developed by Boston Dynamics. Cheetah can run at a speed of 29 kph. This means that it can run faster
than most people!
In fact, on March 5, it set a new world record as
the fastest legged robot. The Cheetah broke a land speed record for
legged robots, which was set in 1989 by a two-legged robot. The robot
was developed by MIT researchers.
 Scientists who
created Cheetah are trying
to make the robot even faster. “The ultimate goal is to get Cheetah running
much faster and in an outdoors,” said Dr. Alfred
Rizzi, chief robotics scientist at Boston
Dynamics. “We really want to understand the limits of what is possible for fast-moving robots.” Cheetah
will be used in the U.S. military after going through
some tests. It is expected to do some dangerous tasks for soldiers in the field. |
