Everyone has different hairstyles. Some people have straight hair while others have curly hair. Many girls have long hair, while boys have shorter hair. Other than these common hair styles, some people have very unique hair styles. Recently, a Japanese guy made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for having a special hairstyle.

Last week, a Japanese designer named Kazuhiro Watanabe became a world record holder thanks to his unique hairstyle. So, what¡¯s so special about his hairstyle? Look at the picture. He has the tallest Mohawk haircut in the world!

The 40-year-old designer from Japan earned a place in the 2013 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records, which was released last Thursday. Watanabe unveiled his unique hairdo at a press event in New York on September 12 to mark the launch of the new book.

So, how tall is his hair? The tip of Watanabe¡¯s spiked Mohawk stands 113 centimeters from his skull! It took him 15 years to grow the Mohawk to its present height. Three stylists had to help him get his hair up into its shape. They used three canisters from hair spray and a bottle of hair gel. Without gel and hairspray, the hair reaches his knees!

¡°It was a lot of work, but I am happy to have achieved a world¡¯s No 1 spot,¡± Watanabe said proudly. ¡°It is too expensive to do the Mohawk every day. So I only do it for special occasions like this and parties,¡± he added.

Watanabe began his quest to get into the Guinness Book of World Records when he was 20. At first, he didn¡¯t mind which record he hold. One attempt that he considered before taking on the Mohawk challenge was to drink the most Tabasco sauce!

The previous holder of the record for the biggest Mohawk was Stefan Srocka from Germany. His hairdo stood 80 centimeters tall. ¡°My 10-year-old daughter has already decided that she intends to beat my record one day!¡± said Watanabe. We will have to wait to see if she sets a new world record!
