Do you know the Smurfs? They are small, blue-colored creatures. They live together in a beautiful town. Surprisingly, there is a Smurf town in Spain! The name of the town is Juzcar.

It is a small village with only 200 people. Then, how did the small village turn into a Smurf town? Last summer, the 3D film The Smurfs was filmed there. In 2011, the village was painted blue to film scenes for the movie.

Previously, the houses were white. Even after the movie shooting was over, the mayor of the town, David Fernandez Tirado, decided to keep the houses blue. As a result, the village has seen a dramatic increase in tourism! It has received about 125,000 visitors since the film was released last summer.

Now the village has an average of 2,000 visitors every weekend, about 10 times its own population! The villagers now hold weekly ¡°Smurf markets¡± to sell Smurf-related souvenirs and food. Don¡¯t you want to visit the Smurf village some day?
