Kangaroos are interesting marsupial animals that are found in Australia. There are four different kangaroo species: the red kangaroo, eastern grey kangaroo, western grey kangaroo, and antilopine kangaroo. The red kangaroo is the largest marsupial in the world. It can grow to two meters and weigh up to 90 kilograms. Kangaroos are great jumpers. But can they walk backwards?

Kangaroos can be found all over Australia. No matter where you go in Australia, there will be at least one species of kangaroo that lives in that area. Many people think they live only in Australia. But they can also be found in Papua New Guinea. All kangaroos are herbivores. Kangaroos usually live to be around six years old in the wild.

Kangaroos have very powerful legs. So be careful when a kangaroo is near you. Kangaroos can jump very high. Sometimes they can jump three times their own height! They can hop around quickly on two legs. Their large and strong tail is used for balance when hopping. They can also walk around slowly on all four legs.

Interestingly, however, kangaroos can¡¯t move backwards! They can¡¯t move their hind legs independently on land. They can only move them together. But when they are swimming, they kick each leg independently! Surprisingly, kangaroos are good swimmers!
