There are some people in the world who enjoy extreme sports such as bunjee jumping, base jumping, and sky diving. On June 5, a Russian base jumper named Valery Rozov set a new world record in base jumping. Base jumping is an extreme sport which involves jumping from cliffs, bridges, buildings and towers.
Last Tuesday, Mr. Rosov jumped from the top of Shiving, a mountain in the Indian Himalayas. It took six days to climb the 6,543-meter mountain. To our surprise, after he took off from a high cliffside, he landed 2,200-meter further down on the glacier only 90 seconds later!

On the contrary, it took three days for the other people who tried to achieve the same feat. ¡°This was my first project in the Himalayas,¡± said the two-time skydiving world champion after his record-breaking flight. ¡°I had a few difficulties along the way, so I am really pleased that I was able to complete the jump successfully.¡±
The 47-year-old Russian base jumper became famous in 2009 when he jumped into an active volcano in Kamchatka, Eastern Russia. In 2010, he surprised the world again by jumping from Ulvetanna Peak in the Antarctic. I can¡¯t wait to see his next amazing jump!
