Zebras have nice stripes. From narrow to wide, different zebra species have different types of stripes. But do you know why they have stripes? If you are curious to know, please keep reading and learn some amazing facts about zebras!

Zebras are only found in Africa. They are generally slower than horses with a top speed of around 56 kph. In the wild, zebras live about 20-30 years. They can live up to 40 years in zoos. They usually feed on tough grasses. But they can also eat leaves.

Zebras are social animals and live in herds. Zebras in a herd might all look alike. But their stripe patterns are as unique as fingerprints are in humans.
Scientists can identify individual zebras by comparing patterns, stripe widths, and color.

So, why do zebras have stripes? When zebras are grouped together, their stripes make it hard for a predator to pick out one zebra to chase! When chased, zebras zigzag from side to side, making it more difficult for the predator to catch them.
