On
January 4, The Kids Times had an amazing chance to meet Hong
Myung-bo, one of the best soccer coaches in Korea. Editor-in-chief
Julia Baik and two Kids Reporters Song Suk-bin and Han Seung-hyeon
met him at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History.
He was appointed as the 2013 Special Olympics' promotional ambassador.
The Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children
and adults with intellectual disabilities. Under the slogan "Together
We Can!" more than 4 million athletes from 170 countries
participate in its sporting events to show the world that they can
also achieve many things. The
Special Olympics World Games are held every two years.
The 2013 Special Olympics will be held in Pyeongchang from January
26 to February 6. The Kids Times also supports the meaningful event by providing
a four-day cultural exchange program
for the athletes from Australia and Denmark. Some of our Kids Reporters
will also take part in the special program.
Many
celebrities are supporting the 2013 Special Olympics. Kim Yu-na, Guus
Hiddink, Michelle Kwan, and the Wonder Girls are promotional ambassadors
of the event. Now Hong Myung-bo has also joined them in supporting
the sport festivals for these amazing athletes.
The former coach of the South
Korean football team in the 2012 London Olympics met with Na Kyung-won,
chairwoman of the organizing committee for
the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games. She appointed Hong as
one of the event's promotional ambassadors.
"I'm very
glad to have this wonderful chance to support the Special Olympics.
I will do my best to promote this meaningful sports event," said Hong
in an interview. The kind-heated former coach even took a picture with our Kids
Reporters Song Suk-bin and Han Seung-hyeon! They also took a picture
with chairwoman Na Kyung-won. It was such a special day for us!
