You
may think millionaires don¡¯t need to
work hard. Well, it¡¯s true that some people who have rich parents
don¡¯t really work hard but one Chinese millionaire works very hard
to teach her children about the importance of diligence.
A 53-year-old Chinese woman named Yu Youzhen is very rich. She became
rich after working really hard for nearly 40 years. She had many different
jobs, including work as a farmer, cook, lorry driver, and street
sweeper.
Now
Mrs. Yu has 17 apartments, worth some 10 million yuan!
To our surprise, however, she is still working as a street sweeper.
She wears an orange coat and goes to work as a street sweeper six
days a week. She has never been late for work. In the last 14 years,
she had only asked for three days off in order to attend the funerals of her father and
mother-in-law.
Then, why is this rich woman still working as a street sweeper? She
wants to teach the importance of a proper work ethic to her lazy son. Her 33-year-old
son Liang once stayed at home for two months, doing nothing.
She kept
scolding him during that
time because she was concerned that he would fall in with bad people and
disrupt the family. Now he
is working hard as a driver in his home village.
¡°Work is not just about the salary. It should make one focused. Laziness
gives rise to all sorts of bad habits,¡± she said. ¡°My son
said to me later that I was right. I want to be a role model for my
children. I do not want to sit around idly and eat up my fortune,¡±
she added. |
