Korea
is experiencing extremely hot summer this
year. It is very hot even at night! This phenomenon is called ¡°tropical night.¡± In fact, Seoul has experienced the longest tropical
nights since 2000. Many people find it hard to fall asleep during the hot
summer nights. But getting a good night¡¯s sleep is very
important for your health.
When the nighttime temperature stays
above 25 degrees Celsius, the phenomenon
is called tropical night. Korea usually experiences tropical
nights in July and August when the rainy season ends. Due to
the ongoing heat wave, it is hard to
sleep tight at night. Sadly, according to weather forecasts, the heat
wave is expected to continue!
Then, how can we get a good night¡¯s sleep during the hot summer nights?
There are some easy, simple solutions.
First, spend some time in the sun
during the day. It will help you fall asleep easily at night. Staying
active during the day is also helpful. But don¡¯t do exercise two hours before
going to bed. You may find it hard to fall asleep if you exercise
late at night.
Taking a short nap can help you feel energetic. But don¡¯t sleep
too long when taking a nap. Also, do not take a nap after 3 pm. It
can interrupt your sleep at night.
Don¡¯t sleep for more than 30 minutes during the day.
Do not eat snacks at night. Your stomach will busy digesting the food you ate
during the night. It can interrupt your sleep, too. If you are hungry
at night, try drinking a glass of milk. Milk will help you fall asleep
easily, too.
Taking
a warm shower or bath can be helpful, too. Taking a cold shower before
going to bed can wake you up, making it hard to fall asleep. But warm
water will help you relax and fall asleep easily.
Do not leave the air conditioner on for more
than an hour. Air conditioners can dry your mouth and throat. Keep the indoor temperature at around
25~26 degrees. Otherwise, you may come down with a cold or
air-conditioningitis³Ã¹æº´. |
