Korea is experiencing extremely hot summer this year. It is very hot even at night! This phenomenon is called ¡°tropical night.¡± In fact, Seoul has experienced the longest tropical nights since 2000. Many people find it hard to fall asleep during the hot summer nights. But getting a good night¡¯s sleep is very important for your health.

When the nighttime temperature stays above 25 degrees Celsius, the phenomenon is called tropical night. Korea usually experiences tropical nights in July and August when the rainy season ends. Due to the ongoing heat wave, it is hard to sleep tight at night. Sadly, according to weather forecasts, the heat wave is expected to continue!

Then, how can we get a good night¡¯s sleep during the hot summer nights? There are some easy, simple solutions.
First, spend some time in the sun during the day. It will help you fall asleep easily at night. Staying active during the day is also helpful. But don¡¯t do exercise two hours before going to bed. You may find it hard to fall asleep if you exercise late at night.

Taking a short nap can help you feel energetic. But don¡¯t sleep too long when taking a nap. Also, do not take a nap after 3 pm. It can interrupt your sleep at night. Don¡¯t sleep for more than 30 minutes during the day.

Do not eat snacks at night. Your stomach will busy digesting the food you ate during the night. It can interrupt your sleep, too. If you are hungry at night, try drinking a glass of milk. Milk will help you fall asleep easily, too.

Taking a warm shower or bath can be helpful, too. Taking a cold shower before going to bed can wake you up, making it hard to fall asleep. But warm water will help you relax and fall asleep easily.

Do not leave the air conditioner on for more than an hour. Air conditioners can dry your mouth and throat. Keep the indoor temperature at around 25~26 degrees. Otherwise, you may come down with a cold or air-conditioningitis³Ã¹æº´.
