The alligator gar is a type of fish that belongs to the ray-finned family. The interesting
thing is that it is generally about three meters
long and weighs 72 kilograms! That’s big! It is the largest freshwater fish in North
America. Its snout is very long and its
colors are brown or gray. And its body is covered with scales shaped like a diamond.
To our surprise, they can live up to 70 years!
 The alligator
gar is a great eater and a good hunter. It eats whatever
moves. The main food for the fish is small fish and reeds. And sometimes, it
even preys on birds and rabbits!
You can find the alligator gar in warm water in large lakes or small rivers in
the southern part of the United
