A French
swimmer who doesn¡¯t have arms and legs surprised the world again!
Philippe Croizon, who lost his limbs in a 1994 electrical accident,
successfully swam the freezing waters between Alaska and Russia.
On
August 17, the amazing swimmer completed his swim from Alaska¡¯s Little
Diomede Island to the Russian maritime border near Big Diomede Island.
It took about 80 minutes for him to complete the 4.3-kilometer swimming
challenge.
¡°This was the hardest swim of my life,¡± he said. ¡°The icy
waters and strong currents had been a challenge. But I made it! I
am proud of what I have done.¡± The 44-year-old swimmer has swum three
other straits since May.
By succeeding in the last challenge, he has
completed a swim that links five continents. So, why did he try such
hard projects? Mr. Croizon said he hoped to encourage other disabled
people. ¡°Everything is possible and everything can be done.
We can
all succeed in life despite what happens to us. We are all equal -
disabled and non-disabled people on all continents!¡± You did a wonderful
job, Mr. Croizon! |
