You have many bones inside your body. Your bonds are playing many important roles for you. Thanks to your bones, you can walk, run, and dance! But how much do you know about your precious bones? This week, let¡¯s learn some amazing facts about your bones!

Did you know that you have more than 200 bones? In fact, you were born with 350 bones. However, by the time you have finished growing, you only have 206 bones. This is because some bones fuse together as you get older. Some smaller bones join together to make one bigger bone. Your bones all work together to help you move around.

Each bone has a different function. For example, the bones in your legs and arms help you move around. Also, they protect the softer parts of your body. The skull protects the brain like a natural helmet.

About 70 percent of your bones are not living tissue, but hard minerals like calcium. The outside of the bone is called the cortical bone. It is hard, smooth, and solid. There is a softer substance called ¡°marrow¡± on the inside of bones. It looks a bit like a jelly and it makes new blood cells for the body.

There are two types of bone marrow - yellow and red. Yellow bone marrow is mostly fat cells. Red marrow produces red and white blood cells. When we are born, all of our bones have red marrow. By the time we are adults, about half of our bones have red marrow.

Each hand is made up of 27 bones and each foot contains 26 bones. So, when you are an adult, more than half of your bones are in your hands and feet! Your backbone is not one bone. It is made up of 26 smaller bones!

It is very important to take good care of your bones. Drinking milk and yogurt can help make your bones stronger. Enjoying cheese is also good for your bones. This is because these foods are rich in calcium. Enjoy them often and make your bones happy!
