World
Wide Web, which is abbreviated as WWW, is what
we use lots of time every day to access web pages on the Internet.
But did you know that there was a person who created it? Let me introduce
the inventor of the World Wide
Web, Tim Berners-Lee!
Tim was born in 1955. He had a lot of interests in science in his
childhood. He studied very hard, and as a result, he attended Oxford
University, which is one of the most prestigious universities
in the world. After he graduated from the university, he worked in
a laboratory in Zurich, Switzerland.
While working there, Tim always had to struggle to gather information scattered here and there
on the internet. ¡°How can I consolidate all the scattered
data?¡± he thought.
He tried hard to come up with an idea, and put all his efforts into
it. After a while, the efforts paid off. Finally, he invented the
World Wide Web with his colleagues!
¡°We could make money from it!¡± His colleagues were very excited. However,
Tim had a different opinion. ¡°I didn¡¯t make this for money. I would
like to share this with people all around the world,¡± he said.

If he invented it for his sake, and didn¡¯t share it, we would never
have had the experience of accessing the internet without any international
boundaries. This is because,
without the World Wide Web, there would be only a few separate profit-based websites that
individuals and certain companies create.
Thanks to the invention of
the World Wide Web, people could share their information with others
all over the world. Tim showed clearly that sharing can make the world
a better place! |
