percent of Americans eat pizza regularly. Each person in
the U.S. eats about 46 pizza slices a year. There are more than 60,000
pizzerias in the U.S. alone. The country even holds
a Pizza Expo every year in Las Vegas, Nevada.
 About
3 billion pizzas are sold annually in the U.S. alone.
The top five pizza sales days in the U.S. are Super Bowl Sunday, New
Year’s Eve, Halloween, The night before Thanksgiving, and New Year’s
Day. More than 60 percent of Americans prefer meat toppings, while
about 40 percent prefer vegetables. Women are twice as likely as men
to order vegetable toppings
on their pizza.
Over 5 billion pizzas are sold worldwide each year. Saturday
night is the most popular night to eat pizza. The most popular pizza
topping is pepperoni. Children ages 3 to 11 prefer pizza over all
other food groups for lunch and dinner. Interestingly, many people
consider pizza as the perfect
breakfast.
 The largest
pizza in the world was made in 1990 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to the Guinness
Book of World Records, the pizza was 37.4 meters in diameter. It was made using
500 kilograms of flour, 800 kilograms of cheese,
and 900 kilograms of tomato puree.
The world’s fastest pizza maker can make 14 pizzas in 2 minutes and
35 seconds. The most expensive pizza in the world cost $2,745. Its
toppings include Scottish smoked salmon, edible gold, caviar, and
