at the cute little animal in the picture. Can you guess what it is?
Is it a lion or a tiger? To our surprise, it is a liliger, a cross
between a lion and a liger! She was born earlier this month at a zoo
in Siberia. Her name is Kiara and she is the first liliger in the
world!
Her dad is an African lion and her mom is a liger, a cross between
a lion and a tiger. The amazing liliger has tiger stripes on her forehead. But she also resembles a lion. After Kiara’s
birth, her liger mother was unable to produce enough milk for her.
So zookeepers are feeding her
by bottle. Other than her birthmother, now Kiara has
another mother. Surprisingly, her new mother
is not a lion or a tiger. She is a cat! The little liliger was adopted
by a cat named Dasha. The cat belongs to one of the zookeepers.
She plays with Kiara, keeps her warm and washes her like
her own. Thanks to Dasha’s love and care, Kiara is very healthy. visitors to the zoo will
be able to see her in October. |
