Blessed Teresa, commonly known as Mother Theresa, was born in 1910 in Macedonia. Her name in childhood was Agnes. Her parents were very religious people. So was Agnes. They were Roman Catholics. Her parents always helped others. Every time Agnes saw that, she thought she would be like her parents when she grew up.

When she was 16 years old, she had a chance to do volunteer work for people who needed help. Meanwhile, she heard about people in India. ¡°There are countless people who are dying in India. They don¡¯t even have a chance to see a doctor. It¡¯s because there are few hospitals in India.¡±

Agnes felt very sorry for the miserable life of the poor people in India, and started to pray for them. While she was praying, she suddenly heard a vague voice saying ¡°Agnes, go to India!¡± She was embarrassed by the voice, but soon, she realized that it was the voice of God.

She decided to go to India as God had said to her. Her mom didn¡¯t say anything about her decision. Instead, she prayed alone for about a day in her room. Then, she said, ¡°Agnes, let God lead your way so He can always be with you.¡±

In India, she studied hard to become a nun, and, she finally became a nun with the name ¡°Teresa.¡± As a nun, she lived a very happy life. However, she couldn¡¯t still ignore the sorrows of people in India. At last, she decided to move to a town in which people suffered from poverty. She built a house for them. She also did her best to help and educate them.

The world was moved by her sincere dedication. Thus, the Missionaries of Charity organization»ç¶ûÀÇ ¼±±³¼ö³àȸ was founded in 1948. A lot of people were eager to give their help to organization. It is said that Mother Teresa slept only for about three hours a day in order to take care of the people.

She sacrificed her whole life to show the world what love is. She passed away in 1997 at the age of 88. Even though we can¡¯t see her anymore, her dedication will be remembered forever.
