Tom
Cruise is the most beloved actor in the world. His acting performances in movies
always thrill audiences. He is recognized
as the most handsome guy in Hollywood as well. However, this mighty actor also had a time
when he went through hardship. How was he able to overcome it and become who
he is today?
Tom cruise was diagnosed with dyslexia when he was seven
years old. Dyslexia is a learning problem that causes people to struggle with reading and
spelling.
¡°When
I was about 7 years old, I had been labeled dyslexic. I¡¯d try to concentrate on what I was
reading, then I¡¯d get to the end of the page and have very little
memory of anything I¡¯d read. I would go blank, feel anxious, nervous, bored,
frustrated, dumb. I would get angry.
My legs would actually hurt when I was studying. My head ached. All through school
and well into my career, I felt like I had a secret. When I¡¯d go to
a new school, I wouldn¡¯t want the other kids to know about my learning
disability,¡± Tom said.
Meanwhile, his teacher asked him to read a book aloud in the class.
Tom started to read, but some weird words came out of his
mouth. Students in the class began to talk in a whisper. Just then,
his teacher praised him, saying, ¡°Tom, you have such a nice voice!¡±
Tom, very
much encouraged by what his teacher
said to him, memorized whole books since
that time. As a result, he was able to graduate from high school without
any trouble.
After high school, he decided to be an actor. It was such hard work
for him to read a script, but he never gave up! He memorized everything
in the script while listening to other people read it. His efforts
paid off! Overcoming all the hardships, he was able to play the main roles in a
lot of good movies such as Mission Impossible, Top Gun, and Rain Man,
which all left unforgettable memories of
him in the minds of audiences.
Now, there is no doubt that he is the world¡¯s most famous and influential
actor. He is definitely the hope for people
all over the world who struggle to overcome their difficulties. |
