These days, many children use their smartphones for many hours a day playing games. Using your smartphone for too long can cause many health problems. One of the major problems is ¡°carpal tunnel syndrome¼Õ¸ñ ÅͳΠÁõÈıº.¡± It affects thousands of people in Korea, including young children and teenagers. But what is carpal tunnel syndrome and how can you prevent it?

Today, a growing number of people are suffering from the digital pain. This is because they use their hands too much playing online games. If you are suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, you feel pain in your wrists.

The condition is caused when the median nerve becomes compressed. The median nerve runs from the forearm to the hand. Anything which puts pressure on this nerve can cause carpal tunnel syndrome. Repetitive movements over a period of time can cause this unwanted condition, too.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is often caused by repetitive work such as driving, sewing, writing, or typing. Using heavy tools, playing a musical instrument, and playing online games too often can also cause the wrist pain. If left untreated, the syndrome can result in permanent nerve and muscle damage.

So, how can you prevent carpal tunnel syndrome? It is important to keep your hands warm in preventing the painful condition. Also, take breaks from repetitive motion. For example, when playing online games, take a 10-minute break after playing games for one hour. It is also important to stretch your hands often.
