Do
you know how dogs express their feelings? As
you know, they can¡¯t talk. Instead of talking, they communicate with their tails!
Wagging a tail is part of dog language. Dogs use tail wagging to mean
various things depending
on their situation and feeling. If
you take a close look at its tail, you can easily find out what your
dog is feeling at the moment!
Generally, a dog wagging
its tail is considered to be happy and friendly. However, it can mean
negative feelings, too! A
high and fast wag means that the dog feels good and happy. And a broad
wag means saying ¡°Hello there,¡± when it is feeling friendly. If the
dog wags its tail from its waist, it means the dog is
very excited and feels very pleased.
However,
if the tail droops low, it is a sign
that the dog feels worried or poorly. If the tail is tucked
under its body, it means that the dog feels fear and is saying ¡°Do not
hurt me.¡± Also, a tail held high and wagging slowly means the dog
is hesitating to do something or is embarrassed.
There is some interesting research from the University of Trieste
and the University of Bari in Italy. According to neuroscientists at these
universities, when dogs feel positive about you, the tail
wags more to the right. However, negative feelings make the tail wag
to the left! Isn¡¯t it interesting? How about taking a closer look
at how your dog feels today? |
