is just around the corner! Many people enjoy delicious cake with their
loved ones on Christmas Eve.
Recently, a Japanese pastry chef came up with a dog-friendly cake!
In Japan, most dog owners treat their dogs as their
family members and spend a lot of time and money on their pets. Many
dogs even get Christmas presents from their owners!
In order to help the dogs have a special time with their owners this
Christmas, Naohiko Nagatani made a special cake. This cake can be
eaten by both dogs and their owners! “The birth rate is declining in
Japan. So dogs have pretty much become like children and people want
to share Christmas with them,”
Nagatani said. “This is why I came up with the dog-friendly cake.”
To make his creation dog-friendly, he
leaves out chocolate and alcohol.
He also makes the sponge from spelt, a type of wheat that causes fewer allergies than regular flour.
The special cake costs 6,000 yen (about 70,000
won) each. It is very expensive, but many people
have already ordered the cake for Christmas! |
