Koalas are very cute animals, like teddy bears! What image comes to mind first when you think of them? Yes, you might think of them sitting on tree branches and eating leaves. They have been known to live in trees. Do they really live in trees?

The answer is yes. However, they don¡¯t live in just any kind of trees. They live only in eucalyptus trees in Australia! They live and sleep in eucalyptus trees. Koalas feed only on eucalyptus leaves. The leaves give them all the energy and water they need.
Therefore, their bodies have evolved over a long time to sit comfortably in the trees. In short, eucalyptus trees are their home.

Here is another interesting fact about their food. They eat the tender tips of the eucalyptus leaves. However, the leaves are tough, toxic, and low in nutrition liver. Then how do koalas eat the leaves? A koala¡¯s liver has a special ability to remove the toxins from the leaves. To our surprise, they eat over a kilogram of these leaves each day!
