Do you sometimes feel like you can¡¯t carry on with your plan? Are you not sure about what you believe is right? If you feel like this, read carefully the story of Ted Turner (1938-present), who founded CNN (Cable News Network).

Before the creation of CNN, people in the United States could watch news only at certain fixed times. Ted Turner couldn¡¯t understand it. ¡°Why can¡¯t we watch news whenever we want?¡± Turner thought. After he debated it with himself several times, he decided to create a broadcast network that exclusively provides news all day.

When Turner explained the idea to people, they all laughed at him. They said, ¡°Hey, who on earth will watch a channel that only shows news? People want to watch movies, dramas, shows and such programs.¡± Some of them even said, ¡°Your broadcast will fail after just a few months.¡±

However, Turner didn¡¯t give up. He was very determined to make this channel for people. And, in 1980, CNN, which was the outcome of Turner¡¯s efforts, finally went on air. It was literally a 24-hour news channel.

Contrary to what others predicted, CNN became a sensation. Most people thought the idea was very fresh because they could instantly check what¡¯s happening all around the world. People who had laughed at Turner¡¯s idea also admitted that Turner was right.

¡°If I gave up because people scoffed at me, it would not have happened. But, I never gave up. Giving up before I try is something I can¡¯t even imagine.¡±

Belief in himself was the key to his success!
