We
all know that drinking milk is good for our health. It makes your
bones stronger. This is because
it is a wonderful source of calcium. Drinking
milk has another important benefit. According to a new study, it could
even help you win a Nobel Prize!
Recently, British researchers released the
results of a very interesting
study. They studied the relation between drinking milk and winning
Nobel Prizes. They found that countries whose people consumed the most milk and
dairy products per capita won the most number
of Nobel Prizes per capita!
This interesting study was coducted by Sarah Linthwaite and Geraint
N. Fuller of the Gloucester Royal Hospital in the U.K. They said since
milk is rich in vitamin D, drinking
milk may boost brain power. They also noted that milk consumption
might be a reflection of a strong educational system.
So,
which country has won the most Nobel Prizes? It¡¯s Sweden! There are
31.855 Nobel Prizes for every 10 million Swedes. On average, the Swedes
drink about 350 kilograms of milk each over the course of a year.
The U.S. came in around the middle with 10.731 Nobel wins per 10 million
people. On average, the country¡¯s milk consumption is about 250 kilograms
per person per year. China consumes the least milk among the counties
on the list. The country has won 0.06 Nobel Prizes per 10 million
people. In China, the average person drinks less than 50 kilograms
of milk per year.
Although
the two researchers found a link between a nation¡¯s milk
and dairy consumption and the number of Nobel Prize winners, their
study didn¡¯t prove a cause-and-effect relationship.
Last year, they also studied the link between chocolate and Nobel
prizes. Interestingly, eating chocolate turned out to be a better
variable of Nobel wins than
milk! But don¡¯t eat too much chocolate, remember, it is bad for your
teeth! |
