Recently, a very big insect was found in a South American rainforest. It is the Titan beetle, which is also called ¡°Titanus giganteus.¡± Surprisingly, its body is 16.7 cm long!

Titan beetles are the largest insects in the world. According to biologists, they can grow up to 17.7 cm! They have another interesting thing. They have extremely long and strong jaws. To our surprise, they can snap wooden pencils in half! Also, their claws are very strong, too. They can rip through human¡¯s flesh!

Titan beetles are called one of the most mysterious creatures on Earth. Why? Its larvae have never been found in anywhere else so far! Biologists guess that the larvae live in rotten wood, where is hard to find.
In addition, the adult beetles are known not to eat anything! How surprising! They live as adult beetles for only a week.

Titan beetles normally live in the rainforests of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil. Sometimes tourists all over the world visit these countries to see Titan beetles, which are rare and unique. Don¡¯t you want to see them for yourself someday?
