Today, many drivers on the road are stressed out because of traffic. This is why people are attracted to motorcycles. Two-wheeled motorcycles can drive freely, no matter how bad the traffic may be. But, who made this great vehicle? It turns out to be a German named Nikolaus Otto.

Nikolaus was born into a very poor family. Since he was little, he was only interested in machines. ¡°Dad, in the future, I will be a very successful man with machine work,¡± Otto confidently told his father.

In fact, when Nikolaus grew up, he worked as an ordinary businessman. However, he always wanted to make gas engines on his own. So, he eventually quit his job and immersed himself in studying gas engines.

In 1864, Nikolaus finally succeeded in inventing a gas engine. He submitted it to the Paris Exhibition in 1867, and it was highly commended. Five years later, Nikolaus decided to make a better gas engine. To achieve his goal, he founded a gas engine manufacturing company. Then, he started to analyze engines and at last created a remarkable engine. With the invention, he could invent the motorcycle.

The motorcycle began to draw great attention during the First World War. Motorcycles were cheap, and they used less gasoline than cars. For these reasons, many people preferred motorcycles to cars.

Motorcycles instantly spread around the world. Since then, motorcycles have been a popular form of convenient transportation.
