Andrea
Bocelli. You may not be familiar with the name. What
about a song titled Time to Say Good Bye (Con te Partiro)? Yes, that
popular song was sung by him. Andrea Bocelli is an Italian tenor and
singer- songwriter. What is surprising is he is blind.
Andrea was born in 1958 with very poor eyesight. He learned music
as he studied the piano from the age of six. Unfortunately, when he
was 12, he permanently lost his sight
due to a football accident. However, he didn¡¯t give up on life. He
tried to be positive in any given situation.
When
he grew up, he became a lawyer. But deep inside, he always had the
desire for music, and finally, he decided to make his way in music.
After quitting his job, he played the piano at a jazz bar to make
money for his vocal lessons. Despite his blindness and poor living
conditions, he carried on
towards his dream.
His efforts paid off.
In 1992, Andrea made a public name for himself when he sang Miserere
with Aldelmo Fornaciari. In 1994, he also won at the Festival di San
Remo»ê·¹¸ð °¡¿äÁ¦. Finally, he became a hugely successful international
singer following his duet with Sarah Brightman, titled Time to Say
Goodbye.
In spite
of this great success, Andrea Bocelli didn¡¯t stop trying to be a better
singer. He pioneered a new genre called
¡°Pop-Pera¡± (a crossover genre of Pop and
Opera). As one of world¡¯s greatest tenors, he also performed with
renowned conductors, such as Zubin
Mehta, Lorin Maazel, and Chung Myung-whun.
Today, his consistency and faith in himself has made
Andrea Bocelli the world¡¯s irreplaceable tenor. |
