Every day, we use many things. From toilet paper to computers, we need many things in our lives. Thanks to many brilliant inventions, our lives became very convenient. Every day, more inventions are being created to make life easier for us. And guess what? Lots of these inventors are kids! This week, let's meet three great young inventors!

A 17-year-old teenage boy has just invented a way to speed up the Internet! His name is Allan Chu. Allen was tired of how slow the Internet can be. So he invented an algorithm, which will compress data and allow information over the Internet to be presented to you much more quickly. An algorithm is a step by step mathematical procedure that solves a problem especially by a computer. Allan recently entered a math, science and technology competition. And he won first place and 3,000 dollars! What an amazing young man he is!

Have you ever heard of a Popsicle? An 11-year-old boy named Frank Epperson invented it in 1905. He accidentally left his favorite fruit drink with a stirrer in it outside on the porch overnight. When he awoke, the drink was frozen and he found a new delicious treat. He called the delicious new treat a "popsicle." Then, he went on to patent his idea. His Popsicle gained huge popularity. Today, it is still popular in America.

It's cold outside these days. So when you go out, you may need ear muffs. But do you know who invented it? In 1858, a 15-year-old boy named Chester Greenwood invented the first ear muffs. One day, he was ice skating and his ears got very cold. So he tried wrapping his head in a scarf. But that was too bulky and uncomfortable.

So he went home and fashioned two ear-shaped loops from wire. And he asked his grandmother to sew some fur on the loops. These became the first ear muffs. Later, he patented his invention. During World War I, he supplied the U.S. soldiers with his ear muffs. And guess what? He became very rich!

Maybe these stories will help inspire you to be the next big inventor. Sometimes it's as easy as thinking about something that you'd really like to have and then making it! Good luck to all of you, future inventors!
