 Many
various species of plant and animals live in the Amazon. After four
years of study, the United States scientists have found more than
400 new species of plant and animals. They include many rare animals,
especially, a vegetarian piranha fish!
In fact, the piranha is known as being a very scary and dangerous
fish. It attacks live animals, including humans. However, a new species
of piranha was found in the Amazon having a very special feature.
Interestingly, it turns out that they only eat plants!
 People
were very surprised by this discovery. Then, why does the new piranha
eat only plants? The scientists guess that they have evolved over
a long time to survive as it was getting harder for them to find food.
In short, it was a way to protect themselves from the environment.
According to the scientists, the new species of piranha feeds on herbs
in the water. However, there are not very many of them left, because
Amazon jungle is continuously developing. |
