would you say when asked about your favorite hamburger place? Most
people may say “McDonald’s.” Yes, McDonald’s is the world’s largest
and the most popular chain of hamburger fast food restaurants. Let’s
learn about who founded this restaurant and how he made it this successful.
On April 15 in 1955, Ray Kroc (1902-1984) opened a small hamburger
stand in Chicago, the United States. This was the first McDonald’s.
Ray was 53 years old, when he opened it.
Ray liked to challenge new things ever since he was little. This kind
of personality hadn’t changed even when he grew up. Ray started the
new business and stopped his other very prosperous business.
“Ray, why do you want to close this stable business? Do you really
want this new business?” His family thought his new business was too
reckless. However, Ray thought differently from them. “I’m sure McDonald’s
will be very successful. I will make people throughout the nation
eat my hamburgers!”
 Meanwhile,
a few days after the store had opened, one of the employees who first
came to work was very surprised. It was because the store was already
opened and the light was on. “Was the store robbed?” the employee
thought. When the employee stepped into the store, he was even more
surprised. Ray was mopping the floor!
“Boss, you don’t have to clean the store. That is my job,” the employee
said without knowing what to do. “I want McDonald’s to be the world’s
best hamburger store. The person who has a dream will do anything
to achieve it!” replied Ray Kroc.
Regardless of his position, Ray always worked harder than anyone in
the store. As a result, McDonald’s became the best hamburger store
not only in the country but throughout the world. |
