How much do you know about black holes? A black hole is a celestial body whose gravity is so massive that even light cannot escape it.
The existence of black holes was first considered by an English geologist, John Michell, and a French mathematician, Pierre Simon Laplace, in 1783.

Recently, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)¹Ì±¹Ç×°ø¿ìÁÖ±¹ found 26 new black holes in our nearest neighbor galaxy, Andromeda Galaxy, which is about 2-3 million light years distant from the Earth!

The black holes were discovered by Chandra X-ray ObservatoryÂùµå¶ó X-¼± õ¹®´ë, and it took over 13 years to catch them. This is the largest number of black holes ever found in a galaxy. In fact, nine black holes were already spotted in Andromeda Galaxy so far; as result of this new discovery, there is a total of 35. An official of NASA said, ¡°The black hole candidates belong to the stellar mass category, meaning they formed in the death throes of very massive stars and typically have masses five to 10 times that of our Sun.¡±

Meanwhile, space experts expect that some black holes can exist in thousands of other galaxies. Where will the next black holes be found? How amazing and interesting the world of space is!
