What
sounds do dogs make? They bark ¡°bowwow.¡± Understanding the hidden
meaning behind the sounds has been only possible in movies or cartoons.
That is, until now.
A team of inventors at the Nordic Society for Invention and Discovery
(NSID) in Sweden developed a machine called ¡°No More Woof.¡± The device
is a wearable headset.
The sensors attached to the headset detect patterns on electroencephalogram
(EEG) or brain activity graph. In other words, it reads dogs¡¯ brainwaves
and translates their thought into spoken English. Users can hear them
through the headset¡¯s built-in speaker.
While analyzing
the patterns of brainwaves, the inventors found some clear brain activities.
The most common patterns stood for ¡°I¡¯m tired¡± and ¡°I¡¯m hungry.¡±
When dogs saw a new face, the intense pattern was interpreted: ¡°Who
are they?¡±
¡°During the last decade huge discoveries have been made to map out
the human brain¡¯s functions, but never before has anyone made a serious
attempt to apply this groundbreaking technology on man¡¯s best friend,¡±
said one of the inventors on their website. |
