¡°I will go anywhere, provided it be forward.¡±
- David Livingstone (1813-1873), a Scottish medical missionary

Wonder Girls¡¯ Sun-ye will leave for Haiti with her husband in July to conduct missionary outreach projects there for about five years. The K-pop singer¡¯s plan was disclosed on a website run by her fan club on Mar. 18. Haiti is a French-speaking Caribbean country. After a devastating earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, more than 200,000 Haitians were killed. Some 350,000 displaced people still live in squalid tent camps there.

¡°I want to live a second life for my husband and for missionary work,¡± Sun-ye said. ¡°Over the past seven years as a member of Wonder Girls, I have been loved by many fans. While traveling with the group around the globe, I¡¯ve had many amazing experiences.¡±
Watching Haitians dying, she felt ashamed about herself for having tried hard only to succeed. She added, ¡°So I¡¯ve made up my mind to participate in projects to spread the Gospel to those who haven¡¯t heard it before.¡±

¡°Now I¡¯m going to start my second life after launching a missionary NGO with my husband. I¡¯ll try to come back in my best form,¡± she said. Many years from now, some traveling journalists will surely encounter her in Haiti, and say, ¡°Sun-ye, I presume?¡± just as Welsh journalist and explorer Sir Henry M. Stanley found Dr. Livingstone near Lake Tanganyika in 1871, and said, ¡°Dr. Livingstone, I presume?¡±
