These
days, it's hard to go a day without going on the Internet. The Internet
allows us to do many things,
such as check our e-mail, chat with our friends, play games, watch
movies, listen to music, and search for information. Most of you probably enjoy going online.
But how much time do you spend on the Internet?
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Science, ICT, & Future Planning¹Ì·¡Ã¢Á¶°úÇкÎ
and the National Information Society AgencyÇѱ¹Á¤º¸ÈÁøÈï¿ø surveyed 5,000
Internet users.
They found that kids younger than 10 years old spend more than two
hours a day on the Internet. More specifically, kindergarteners and young
elementary school students between the ages of six and nine spend
2.6 hours, on average, on the Internet every day.
The report also found that almost half of those kids
used e-mail. About 38 percent used instant messaging services, such
as Kakao Talk;
24 percent
participated in online cafes;
and 21 percent used social networking services, such as Twitter or
Facebook. The kids were also active in posting comments, pictures,
and videos.
Unfortunately, however, kids
also said that they were more likely to ¡°believe everything on the
Internet as fact¡± because of their lack of judgment. About 52 percent
also said, ¡°Web portals were trustworthy.¡±
The Internet has many advantages, and you can have
a lot of fun online. But it¡¯s equally important to limit your time on the computer,
and dedicate parts of your day to doing other physical activities! |
