Fall can be a busy time of year, so it might be tough to fit something like exercise into your daily schedule. However, its weather makes fall a perfect time to get active and enjoy the great outdoors.

It is often recommended that children and adolescents get 60 minutes or more of physical activity every day. Why is it important to exercise? There are many reasons. Exercise helps build a strong body, reduces your chances of getting diabetes and other serious diseases, and improves heart function. If you¡¯re active when you¡¯re young, your body will thank you later. In addition, when you exercise, your brain releases a chemical that makes you feel happier! Here are some different types of exercises you can try!

Aerobic exercises are activities that require a lot of oxygen. If you do an aerobic exercise, you will probably start breathing faster than normal. This type of exercise gets your heart pumping and quickens your breathing. Aerobic exercises are good for the heart, because it will help your heart deliver oxygen to all parts of your body. Some aerobic activities include swimming, basketball, jogging, soccer, jumping rope, and biking.

Boys, listen up! If you want big, strong muscles, why don¡¯t you try some exercises that help build strength? Doing push-ups or even swinging across the monkey bars during recess will help. So will riding bikes, running, skating, and doing pull-ups.

Can you reach down and touch your toes without any discomfort? If you can, you¡¯re pretty flexible! Being flexible means to have a ¡°full range of motion.¡± This means you can move your arms and legs freely without feeling tightness or pain. If you want to maintain your flexibility or if you want to become more flexible, try these exercises: yoga, tumbling, dancing, taekwondo, and simple stretches.

As you can see, there¡¯s a wide range of exercises you can partake. So take advantage of the glorious fall weather and get active!
