Do
you remember how you learned how to write? Someone may have showed
you and then you practiced a lot. You can
learn how to study the same way! After all, no one knows how to study
when they¡¯re born. They need to learn and practice. Here are five
tips on how you can improve your study habits.
First, pay attention in class. When you do so, you are starting the
process of learning and studying.
Make sure you have a good seat, which allows you to pay attention.
If you have trouble seeing the board or you¡¯re bothered by your neighbors,
tell your teacher and ask to be moved to a better spot.
Second, take good notes. If you¡¯re not sure of how to take notes,
start by writing down facts that your teacher mentions or writes on the
board during class. Try to write as neatly as possible so that you
can read your notes later. It¡¯s also a smart idea to keep your notes
and papers organized by subjects.
Third,
plan ahead for tests and projects. Many students like to procrastinate.
This means if you have a test on Wednesday, you will wait until Tuesday
night to study. This isn¡¯t fun! It¡¯s also stressful and makes it difficult
to do your best. That¡¯s why it¡¯s important to plan ahead.
If you¡¯re not organized, ask your parents for a calendar so that you
can write down the due dates. You can then plan
on how much to do after school every day and how much time you have
to spend on each topic.
Fourth, ask for help. You cannot study effectively if you don¡¯t
understand the material. Be sure to ask
your teacher or parents for help if you have a hard time with a subject.
And lastly, get a good night¡¯s rest! It is recommended that kids between
the ages of seven to 12 get 10 to 11 hours of sleep per day. It is
important to get enough sleep, because it promotes alertness, memory,
and performance. Children who
get enough sleep are also more likely to function better. |
