Cave paintings made tens of thousands of years ago have been considered to be an origin of human art. Until now, most scholars have assumed that the ancient cave paintings were made by men. It was thought that most cave arts were related with hunts, the exclusive property of men in prehistoric times. However, on Oct. 13, an unexpected study was revealed to the world!

For the past ten years, Pennsylvania State University archaeologist Dean Snow investigated countless cave painting data of 20,000 to 40,000 years ago.
After analyzing the handprints, he concluded that at least three of four hands were that of women. His study was published in the journal American Antiquity.

It is said that Snow measured the lengths of fingers by making a copy of the handprints remained in caves. Although some have to question about his study, he said, ¡°The responses are mostly positive. I only hope that someday, someone can answer the question about why women took artistic roles.¡±
