Violinist Sarah Chang is recognized in the world as one of classical music¡¯s most gifted performers. Without a doubt, she is one of the most talented violinists in the world. She made her debut in 1991 when she was only 11 years old. Now as a 28-year-old lady, she is still performing actively, traveling all around the globe.
Sarah Chang (Chang Young-joo) was born on December 10, 1980 in Philadelphia, U.S. to Korean parents. She began her violin studies at age 4. ¡°I started learning the violin as a hobby. You know, I was just a little girl. At the time, I thought it was fun. But now, the violin is my life,¡± said Sarah in an interview.

In 1986, at age 6, Sarah enrolled in the Juilliard School of Music. Within a year, she had already performed with several orchestras in the Philadelphia area. Little Sarah always woke up early in the morning and practiced playing the violin.

Soon, she started appearing on many TV and radio programs throughout North America, Europe and Asia. The world started calling her a genius violinist. In 1999, she received the Avery Fisher Prize, one of the most famed awards given to performing musicians.

In 2004, she was given the honor of running with the Olympic Torch in New York. She also became the youngest person ever to receive the Hollywood Bowl¡¯s Hall of Fame Award. In 2005, Yale University named a chair in Sprague Hall in honor of Sarah Chang. She also received so many other awards and prizes.
Sarah has recorded 17 albums, including her widely praised Vivaldi Four Seasons and Fire and Ice, an album of popular shorter works for violin. In 2006, Sarah Chang was named by Newsweek as one of the ¡°20 Top Women on Leadership.¡± In March this year, Sarah was honored to be named as a ¡°Young Global Leader for 2008¡± by the World Economic Forum for her professional achievements.

Even though people in the world call her a genius, she says she is just a normal girl, who enjoys watching movies. Her favorite movie is Roman Holiday ·Î¸¶ÀÇ ÈÞÀÏ.
She also exercises regularly to stay healthy. She enjoys all kinds of sports from swimming to water skiing and cycling.
Sarah travels all around the world to play the violin every year. But thanks to her good health, it is no problem. ¡°If you want to succeed, you have to take good care of yourself,¡± says Sarah.
