Are
you happy? We all seek happiness, but only a few truly find it. Things
like getting good grades and receiving money from your relatives on
Lunar New Year may make you happy, but it is only temporary. If you
want lifelong happiness, you must reprogram your brain, according
to Harvard University professor Shawn Achor.
Professor Achor¡¯s research has found that we can retrain our brains
to be more productive and positive. ¡°Seventy-five percent of job successes
are predicted by your optimism levels, your social support, and your
ability to see stress as a challenge instead of as a threat,¡± he said.
You might think that being positive sounds easy, but it takes a lot
of energy. So what can you do to be positive? Try these tips.

Be grateful. Professor Achor suggests that you see the good, positive
things in your life. In his research, he found that if people daily
wrote down three positive things for 21 days, it changes their outlook.
Another tip is to get active. Research shows that exercise helps improve
your brain¡¯s activity and your mood. By exercising, you produce happy
and healthy thoughts. Last and most importantly, give back. Perform
random acts of kindness. This will help reprogram your brain to make
a difference! |
