What do you plan for this winter? Will you go skiing or skating? You can make unforgettable memories with your family and friends. However, be careful. Snow can make you fall into trouble. Still, if you are wise, you can overcome trouble in an amazing way.

An excited family of six was on their way for a playful weekend in the snow. Fifteen miles from Lovelock, their car turned over and finally stopped by a crevice. There, they began their fight for survival. James Glanton and his girlfriend, Christina McIntee, and four children remained calm and dealt with the given situation. How could they survive?

The couple built a fire outside, roasted rocks, and placed them in the spare tire to keep the children, warm at night. ¡°I have never heard of such a thing, but I think it was pretty clever of him,¡± Paul Burke, who coordinated the rescue effort for the state Department of Public Safety. Fortunately, they had water, some food, and heavy winter clothing, and could make and maintain a fire near the vehicle.

Including the Civil Air Patrol, an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, at least 200 people searched for them in about 6,000 square miles. After 48 hours, they were finally found in Seven Troughs, by three residents, including Salvador Paredes, who handed over a candy bar when he met them.

Now, they all are doing very well. Surprisingly, all six are displaying just symptoms of mild hypothermia and dehydration, without serious illnesses. Montes, one rescuer, said, the children, ¡°did not seem too bothered. They were in good spirits. They just figured they were camping.¡±
