Going Green    [04-04-2014]

Everyone knows that it¡¯s important to treat our Earth with kindness. Are you kind to the Earth we live on? What are some things that you do to keep our planet clean? In the United States, ¡°going green¡± is a phrase that is so commonly used that you can hear it everywhere you go. It means striving to keep our Earth healthy by protecting our environment.

So what are some ways we can go green? The answer to this question is the three R¡¯s: reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Reducing means lowering the amount of trash. That means we should buy only things that we really need, or buy products that have less packaging.

Reusing means using something multiple times rather than throwing it away. An example of this is making a coffee can into a pencil holder.

Recycling means taking something you have finished using, and putting it through a process that allows for the creation of a new product. For example, most paper is made with recycled paper. Many of our everyday items like milk cartons, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles are made from recyclable materials. So the next time you finish drinking water from a plastic bottle, put it in the recycling bin.

Every small act helps keep our beautiful planet clean, so everyone should step up and go green.
