Tuesday, something amazing happened in a small town
in India. Three dogs saved a baby who was abandoned
by her mother! The newborn girl was covered with mud. When the dogs found
her, they removed the soil around and began to
bark. And the baby started
crying. People in the town heard her and came to save her.
So, why did the baby’s mother leave her? Sadly, people in India prefer sons over daughters.
This is because boys can work and make money for the family.
Also, it’s expensive to raise daughters in the country.
So many families in India don’t want to have girls.
The United Nations says about 2,000 unborn girls are illegally aborted every day
in India. Also, many people abandon their daughters to
die. Isn’t it sad?
But don’t worry. The baby is safe now. A kind couple who
don’t have a child adopted her. Be healthy and happy, baby girl! |
