Do you think 5-year-old children are too young to invent something? Well, think again. Recently, a 5-year-old boy in England invented a very cool broom! The boy¡¯s name is Sam Houghton. Sam is the youngest inventor in England! He invented a new type of broom that has two brushes.
So, why did he decide to make the new broom? One day, he saw his dad sweeping up garden leaves. He was using two different brooms -- one to clear up larger leaves and twigs, the other to catch finer debris.
Sam wanted to save his dad the trouble of switching. So he tied the two brooms together with a large rubber band.

The result was the improved broom which can be flipped around for different jobs! The broom works by having a thicker brush at the front to pick up large objects and a finer brush at the back.
Isn¡¯t he amazing? He sure is a great young inventor! But Sam said, ¡°I don¡¯t know if I want to be an inventor when I grow up, but this was fun,¡±Well, let¡¯s just wait and see!
