There are so many kinds of dogs in the world -- from cute little poodles to brave German shepherds. But do you know who the world¡¯s oldest dog is? A gentleman from England says his dog Bella is the oldest dog in the world. Bella lives in England with her owner David Richardson.

Bella is 29 years old. This means she is about 200 years old in human years! David said he got the mixed breed dog from an animal home about 26 years ago. Bella was at least three years old back then.
David is trying to prove Bella is the oldest dog in the world. ¡°I¡¯m sure she is the oldest dog in the world,¡± said Mr. Richardson. But sadly, he doesn¡¯t have any records for Bella. The Guinness World Records said it could not be proved without Bella¡¯s birth certificate.

Gareth Deaves, records manager from Guinness World Records, said, ¡°If you don¡¯t have a doggy birth certificate, then we won¡¯t be able to prove Bella¡¯s age. And we can¡¯t list her as the world¡¯s oldest dog.¡±
According to Mr. Deaves, the most recent record for the oldest dog was held by Butch from America. He was 28-year-old. He died in 2003. The oldest ever dog was Bluey, a sheepdog from Australia. He died at the age of 29 years and 5 months.
