Today is Friday the 13th! Many people in the world believe that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. But why do they think so? Is there any reason behind the belief?
Well, the reason for this is said to come from Friday, October the 13th in 1307. On this date, the Pope of the church in Rome and the King of France carried out a secret death warrant against the Knights Templar. But there are many other stories behind it. If you are curious, keep reading!
Friday the 13th is considered a day of bad luck in many countries around the world, including the U.S., Austria, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Bulgaria, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, and even the Philippines.

Some people say it may be the most widespread superstition in the United States. In fact, some Americans won¡¯t even go to work on Friday the 13th! And some people won¡¯t eat in restaurants. Also, many people won¡¯t set a wedding on Friday the 13th.

Some other nations also have similar superstitions. For example, Tuesday the 13th is considered unlucky in Greece, Romania and Spanish-speaking countries. In Italy, it is Friday the 17th that is considered unlucky.

Superstitions about Friday being unlucky day have existed since ancient times. In the past, Friday was the common day for people to be hanged!

Also, the number 13 has been considered unlucky for a long time. Early Romans thought 13 was a sign of death and destruction. And Greek philosophers called 13 an ¡°imperfect number.¡±

Today, many hotels have no room number 13. Also, you can see many buildings that do not have the 13th floor. Some airplanes do not have the 13th row. Many ships do not start a voyage on the 13th, especially on Friday the 13th. This is because coupling the number 13 and a Friday is considered very unlucky.
