We cannot live alone. We are living in a society where we have to help each other. And we share many things with other people every day. Interestingly, humans are not the only creatures that share things with others. American researchers found that monkeys also love sharing foods with others!
The research team at Emory University in Atlanta recently studied capuchin monkeys. They tested 8 female monkeys in pairs. Each monkey could choose an option that gave only itself a treat or an option that rewarded both of them.

The monkeys chose to share food with another monkey if given the option. Capuchin monkeys like to share food, and they usually sit next to each other while eating.
¡°They seem to care for the happiness of those they know,¡± said Frans de Waal, director of the research center. ¡°Monkeys can experience the joy of giving in much the same way as humans do. The fact that the monkeys selected the sharing option must mean seeing another monkey receive food is satisfying for them.¡±
